Universalist Convention of North Carolina Records, 1846-1993

The Unitarian Universalist Association is a religious tradition formed through the 1961 merging of the Universalists (founded in 1793) and the Unitarians (founded in 1825). The Universalist Convention of North Carolina was formed in 1895 with the goal of promoting coordinated growth of Universalism in eastern North Carolina. It comprises Unitarian, Universalist, and Unitarian Universalist congregations across the state. The collection contains records of the Universalist Convention of North Carolina. There are records, 1846-1847, from Limestone Church, the first Universalist Church in Duplin County, N.C. There are also records, 1897-1929, from Magnolia Church, including an undated list of officers; a program from 1908; a sheet of meeting minutes, 1922; and donation slips and envelopes, 1921-1924. Also included are materials relating to the first through 88th annual sessions of the Convention, 1906-1993; annual reports; records from special executive board meetings; and documents from the Coastal Carolina Extension Project (1986), the Eastern North Carolina Program Resources Project (1987-1988), and the Proposal for a Universalist Foundation (1987).

The Unitarian Universalist Church is a religious tradition formed through a merging of two religious denominations in 1961: the Universalists (founded in 1793), and the Unitarians (founded in 1825). The Universalist Convention of North Carolina was formed in 1895 with the goal of promoting coordinated growth of Universalism in eastern North Carolina.
